The indirect intravenous administration of ozone previously mixed with a quantity of blood taken from the patient and reinfused through the same vein is currently the most used and effective route of administration. This technique, previously called Autohemotherapy or GAET, is the most effective for activating the mechanisms of adaptation to the moderate oxidative stress induced by adequate and personalized doses of ozone. In fact, the involvement of biochemical regulatory pathways present in all cells capable of physiologically activating following short and minimal oxidative stresses has now been proven. This theory, apparently paradoxical, is described in prestigious scientific journals and makes us understand how, through the activation of the metabolic pathway of Nrf2, many cellular activities are modulated such as better tissue oxygenation, reduction of neurological damage, improvement of activity cardiovascular and microcirculation, the immune system and many other functions related to the so-called “cellular aging” including tissue remodelling which is the basis of the marvellous effects that can be observed on an aesthetic level. This is the reason why Ozone can be defined more as a resource than as a true medical therapy, being profoundly different from common pharmacological treatments by exploiting our own body and all its functions as a "perfect self-healing and prevention machine".
In our clinic, glass bowls are mainly used with a set including, in addition to the butterfly needle infusion set, also the functional antibacterial filter to guarantee maximum sterility and reliability of the technique. About 100-150 ml of blood is taken, depending on the weight of the subject, and an equal volume of ozone / oxygen mixture is added at a concentration ranging from 20/60 µg / ml O3 / O2. These variables are adapted and personalized according to the conditions of the subject to be treated and can be associated with the administration of homo-toxicological agents, vitamins or supplements such as Arginine and others to ensure maximum effectiveness of the treatment. A randomized and standardized study is being planned to establish in real time the best dose of ozone to administer in relation to the patient's status, in terms of oxidative stress and overall antioxidant capacity.
